Frequently Asked.
What is coaching?
Coaching is a structured, supportive and collaborative conversation that helps you gain clarity, overcome challenges, and move toward your goals with confidence and accountability. Life coaching can go deeper, redesigning your life to follow your true path.
Coaching is an investment in yourself to improve areas of your life where you might be stuck, dissatisfied or where you want to achieve a goal.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching focuses on the present and future — your goals, mindset, and actions.
Therapy often explores past experiences, trauma, and mental health conditions.
Both are valuable, but they serve different purposes.
A broad rule of thumb would be:
- If you are in distress then some form of therapy might be needed
- If you want to improve yourself out of a desire to get the life, job or goal you want, then coaching can support you.
What happens in a coaching session?
Sessions involve guided conversation, reflection, practical tools, and clear actions. You’ll explore what matters to you, what’s getting in the way, and what steps will move you forward.
How long is a coaching session?
Sessions are normally scheduled for 45 minutes but this can be adapted depending on your needs.
How many sessions will I need?
It’s not easy to define that because each person has a different start point and journey to go on. The gap between where you are now and where you want to be is key, as is how far you want us with you on that journey.
At True Path Coaching we’re looking to help as many people as possible, so whether you want to book a single “clarity” session, or a programme of 3, 6 or 12 sessions for deeper transformation, we’re good.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Absolutely. A free 45‑minute discovery session to explore your goals and see whether coaching feels right for you is crucial. I want to help you, not take your money under a false pretext.
An initial consultation is vital to understand whether you feel that you can work with us and whether what I offer can help you? I don’t know either until we start a coaching conversation together.
Is coaching confidential?
Everything shared in coaching is treated with complete confidentiality, meeting standard ethical guidelines and following UK GDPR compliance regulations.
I don’t stop there though. To further secure your data, I never use your name in my records. Really? Yes, you’ll have a secret code and I will even delete your emails.
I know that sounds rude, right but I download the content first, minus your personal details, so I can still meet your ongoing needs. I’ll still refer to you by name though, otherwise, that would be rude!
How does online coaching work?
Sessions are held via video call, making coaching accessible wherever you are. All you need is a quiet space and a stable connection. I can work with whatever platform you prefer, including the usual suspects of WhatsApp, Messenger, Google Meet and Zoom.
What if I am not sure of what I need?
That’s completely normal. It’s one of the reasons coaching is useful for so many people and a big part of the discovery session I offer is designed to help you explore what’s going on and what kind of support would be most helpful.
Life is a journey and sometimes it’s been a while since we’ve reflected on where we are, so the question “what do I need?” is more complex than it sounds. That’s one of the ways that I can help you.
By focusing on what you want, where you are now, what got you there and what’s keeping you there, we can start to answer the question “what do I need” and start the process of switching you over to getting the job you want, the confidence you seek or the person you want to be, to name a few common scenarios.
Goals are important but they are not everything, just ask an unhappy CEO. True Path Coaching takes the approach of aligning the person you are, or want to be inside, with the person who shows up every day.
Closing that gap will get you achieving goals that fit your true path, rather than the path you think is socially acceptable or that others expect of you.
How does giving-back work?
True Path Coaching donates 25% of all coaching fees to small mental health charities.
I want to help as many people as possible and I don’t have infinite resources to do that.
Which is also why I have set up the Accessible Therapy Project.
What is the accessible therapy project?
It’s a non‑profit initiative aiming to provide low‑cost or even free therapy to those who can’t afford it. True Path Coaching will conduct fundraising activities and donate 10% of all coaching fees to the “Accessible Therapy Project”
I want to use as much of the funds raised as possible to directly help people in financial need to get therapy, so my commitment is to keep costs low. My target is to ensure at least 90% of funds raised will go directly toward paying qualified therapists to support individuals in financial need.
Just to be clear, the money I raise will never be used to benefit True Path Coaching or myself personally. Other than the rewarding glow I will feel when the funding is helping someone who would normally have to wait a long time for mental health support and may not receive it at all.
This funding will be used to pay for people’s therapy using an independent qualified therapist from a growing network of contacts. I’ll only refer you to them if I would use them myself, so they are not just a name plucked out of a directory. These are professional people with the same or similar set of ethics to myself.
What if I can't afford coaching?
Reach out. Accessibility is part of the mission, and there may be options depending on your situation. And if the options available still don’t fit my situation? I’m a coach but I’m human too, so I may take off my coaching hat and give you the best advice I can.
Do you work with businesses?
Yes – leadership, values‑driven strategy, and purpose‑aligned business coaching are available. Programmes can be tailored to teams or individuals.
How do I get started?
Simply get in touch and I’ll arrange a free discovery session. You can message through the contact page or use the details under contact us. From there, we’ll explore what you need and how coaching can support you in the free discovery session.
Ask us anything.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We’re more than happy to help; even before you book your first session.
